A Visitor asked the following question on 7/3/2006
I have a 6 going on 7 month old that weighs about 11-12lbs brown/red and who we discovered is in heat already we also have a black and tan boy who is 1 1/2 yrs old weighing 15lbs she's been spotting for 2days now and, he does'nt seem interested at all, I been hearing not to let them breed until she's a year and some say it does'nt matter, She doesnt seem interested either, I kinda think that if and when it happens it happens, I just dont know what to expect, I love them so much I just want them to be happy and healthy. What do you all think, should I seperate them (and have them cry all day) What is the process, how long will this last and how do I know if they have mated?

7/9/06 You need to do carefully planning when thinking about having a litter, you could lose your female in birthing, she has to have 2 heats before she is bred, if your male is larger then your female, then the puppies may be to big to pass thur, then you are looking at a C-Cection, with the price of Veterinarian care, you are looking at hundreds of dollars. You need to keep the two apart. Learn all you can about breeding before you ever have a litter. Roxanne
