Okay I called the vet to inquire about xrays to see if my dachshund is pregnant. I was told that it costs about $150.00 and there would be no gaurantee that they would be able to tell if she is going to have pups. So at this point I think I am going to just wait it out. I know that sometimes you can tell if the dog is pregnant by feeling her abdomen, but I really dont know what I am trying to feel. She looks like her belly is hanging slightly lower, her nipples are still swollen looking. If she is pregnant then I expect pups to be whelped around the 22nd of June. I was wondering what I should be trying to feel for in her belly, and can you hear pups with a stethoscope if so what should I listen for?

When was the first tie? Around 22 days a vet should be able to tell if she is pregnant. At 51 days xrays will confirm a pregnancy because the puppies skulls will show on the x-ray. My bitches that go through false pregnancy usually develop signs of preg quicker then the ones that actually are pregnant. i.e. fp usually show the increased nipple size and belly gain. Pregnant bitches usually don't tend to show until around day 35. Also around day 25 you should be able to feel the embryos, if you don't know how to do this I wouldn't chance it. You could risk putting to much presure on the embryos. Let me know if you have any other questions
