Greetings! I have 4 acres fenced in and my fence is about 4 1/2 feet high. Are dobes known for jumpin the fence or will my fence be ok? I know I have enough room for a few dobes to run around.

3/22/07 4 1/2 ft does not keep my dobies in, especially when there is a dog in heat anywhere close by. Several of my dobies have 8 ft fences around their pens and they can still spring up near the top. I'm sure they'd get over a 6 ft fence if given the chance. Lisa and Ernie

3/28/07 Ideally, you wouldn't leave them out alone. If you're out with them 4 1/2 feet should be fine. I don't leave my guys out if I'm not home or out where I can see them. Kendell
4/4/07 I think it depends on the situation whether someone will be home and within eyesight of the dogs all the time. Some people have full time jobs and are unable to stay home with their dogs. Other people have more than one dog and don't leave them in the house unsupervised, when they are not home, so I think the question on the height of the fence is very good for people who need the information on dogs that have to be left outside. I recommend at least a 6' fence for dobermans, 8' if you can afford it. Lisa and Ernie
