my answer to purchase a male or female based on fact is both can be exceptionally good with children.All dogs behavior towards people who they are to come into contact with really does depend on the training and responsible owner, just as much as accquiring a quality dobermann with good bloodlines from a registered breeder. I have young children myself and have both male and female dobermanns, but i would say my personal opinion would be that my bitch 'tolerates' my children alot more than the male and will 'mother' the children due to her natural instincts. As with most males (animal or human) they have less tolerance levels and tend to 'leave' the room to a more peaceful area when they have had enough!
