I am breeding my Cavalier King Charles spaniel this month.I have arranged a stud dog and the owner has asked me to give my bitch a 5 day course of antibiotics at the start of her season incase she has any infection also to give her a course of antibiotic at 4 1/2 weeks of pregnancy. I have been to see my vet for a check up before breeding and they advise me not to give her antibiotics at any of these times unless she has a infection. What should I do?

Follow your vets advice!!! any chemical can affect your bitch and unborn pups. I personally have never heard or been advised to do that. I've been breeding cavs for seven years.

I have never heard of giving a dog antibiotics before breeding, unless the dog is sick!
