We have been looking for a small breed of dog , and have a lead on a blonde cocker spaniel, the problem is that she has an existing hernia, she is five years old, we don't know how long she has had it. thank you for info

I think that if she is 5 and it has not been a problem so far, it will not be a problem, unless
you plan to breed her. Then it would be a problem.
I am assuming it is a umbilical cord hernia?

Umbical hernias are common.... Breeding could be a problem.... But as a rule if the hernia stays soft, it isn't a problem.... But if it gets hard, the intestines could be bulging through and could cause an obstruction which is then an emergency vet visit.
