If, you watch the female's breast, they will begin developing. That is more noticable in a first time mother. And of course, they girth will increase. But some rib cages can hide the changes. If, you watch sleeping patterns, you will notice more napping. Food intake may also increase. Dogs are increditable intellegant. They can smell hormony changes in other dogs, both male and female will inspect to see what is going on. They will do this alot more when the female is closer to whelping....
