We have effectively trained our dogs not to bark at the normal traffic of people who are around us. If a new dog is in the neighborhood and we hear the dogs bark all it takes is to tell them "That's enough and they stop." They are protective and so they feel it is their job when a person or animal is in their area.

its 50/50.
i have a dog that barks alllll the time.
i have some that hardly bark at all. you get what you get. if i had to generalize, yes cockers like to bark.
