A Visitor asked the following question on 2/23/2006
My last well-socialized Shar pei was very aggressive toward other dogs;otherwise she was perfect. We are searching for a new puppy and want to avoid this trait. Can we tell from behavior with litter mates or other dogs which pup may be more aggressive?

2/26/06 The best way to predict behavior is to visit or talk with someone who has visited with the parents. If both parents are freindly to stranges and other dogs the pup should carry the same traits. But remember the raising is also a major factor and the pup should be around other dogs, people, children ect. from a very young age. It is hard to change them once they are older you must take control and show them what you expect from the start. Crystal

8/10/06 Socialization is a major part of raising a puppy. Aggressive behavior is a sign of a Dominant dog and can be controlled easily with the proper socilization and training. Dr. CeSea
