Hello!
I have a five month old Chihuahua, and earlier today I noticed that she got my arm and started humping it. Is she soon to start her period? What can I do for her not to do this and not bleed all over the house. Thank you so much

Dear Liz, Best thing you can do for her is have her spayed if you are not planning to breed her. Female dogs who will not be bred can have their risks for developing several health issues prevented by spaying them before their 2nd heat cyle. These preventable issues can be life threatening, so if she isn't going to be bred she should be spayed. Your vet can advise you on this as far as when is the best time.
