A Visitor asked the following question on 10/25/2004
My son has to do a report on dogs for science class and he has chosen the Chihuahua. One of pieces of information he needs to include in his report is with regards to what weaknesses may develop as a result of Chihuahua inbreeding. Can somebody provide me a list of these issues or a link(s) to a website that may provide him the information. We can't seem to find anything that falls under this heading. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

12/1/04 There are a number of issues with respect to breeding dogs that show up in duiffernet breeds. Any breed, in other words, has it's own set of issues. Any time that you have a dog from a particular line that has shown some genetic weakness, if you breedhim to a bitch,(the correct term for a feamle dog,) that has the same line with the same weakness then the cahnces of this problem showing up in the offspring is greatly magnified. I would be willing to discuss this further with your son if he needs more information. My names is Kelley and I can be reached at 318-932-8338., or through my website at www.keljimschihuahuas.com Kelley
