I purchased a chihuahua with a friend of mine. She has been keeping the dog at her house. I want to take the dog to my house every so often so that it does not only attach itself to just one person, because we got the dog together. Although I know chihuahuas are proned to only have interest in their owner, I want to try and have a "co-relationship" with the dog. However, I was told that we should not seperate the dog from its permanent home because it may cause confusion for the pup. Is this true? And if so, is it still ok to have the dog, not sleep, but just be at two different houses at equal time periods?

3/6/06 In my experience I find that any dog will transfer affection to another person with a lot of love. My first chi was 3 yrs old and a kennel dog with little one on one time. He is GREAT now. Vickie

11/5/06 this is total bullshit...a chihuahua will adjust to anyone home in a matter of days...chihuahuas are extreamly versitile...we've taken in rescues who were a mess and within a week you'd never know they had ever been anywhere else. ...i do have to say the co-ownership of this dog is stupid...the only reason you co-own a dog is to share in breeding rights...which is not why you have this dog...let your friend keep this mutt and go buy yourself a nice pet.
