8/29/06 That is a little young to be breeding but that is water under the bridge. The gestation period is anywhere from 60-65 days. I always feed my pregnant bitch vitamin supplements in the food, 1 folic acid tablet daily from the time she is bred to the time she gives birth. I feed her a little more food than normal or an extra small meal in the middle of the day. Once she gives birth, I feed puppy dry food and supplement once daily with wet food and some cottage cheese mixed in since the demands of puppies are high on energy resources especially if large litter. Puppies tails and dew claws need to be docked and removed by day 3 and a veterinarian should do that. They will need to be wormed at least twice, once at about 4-5 weeks depending on when they are weaned and get vaccines at about 6-7 weeks of age. They will need to get 2 additional vaccines 3 weeks apart to complete the series and then at about 3 -4 months of age get their rabies vaccine. I hope that answers your questions. Christine
