We have a beautiful little border collie(4mths), he is very, very smart, but is having a hard time learning not to jump on people. He pretty much knows the off command for everything else, but doesn't seem to be getting it when he greets people. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A very simple way to control an over zealous pup is to have a leash on him and put the leash under your foot at the lenght which allows him to sit, but not so long as to allow his front end to get off the ground. Every time he tries to jump up he will correct his self for the perfect timing! Tell him sit when ever he comes up to be petted and don't ever pet him if he jumps up. He must sit in order to get the attention he wants. Another thing you can do is to walk forward into him and he'll have to move or be stepped on. One more thing is when he jumps up catch both front paws and lightly squeeze, but continue to hold them. He will be wanting to get away after a minute of that...when he is wanting to pull away tell him 'off'. Then turn him lose and when he comes back for attention have him sit...if he tries again to jump up repeat the whole thing again.
Don't be too rough on him at his age, but you must be firm enough to get the point across.
One thing to remember: Since he
