A Visitor asked the following question on 10/9/2004
I have rescued a border collie from the animal shelter. She is smart and is one year old. I don't know if her chewing things is from teething or bordom. Could someone let me know about this habit from this breed? Thank you

Chewing is alot of the time a habit formed from boredom. Once they have started, it can be hard to correct. Make sure she gets plenty of exercise everyday, like playing ball for an hour or biking with her so that she burns up some of that energy. Also, when you can't watch her, crate her with a bone that she can chew. That way, she won't be distroying your house or chewing things that could kill her. You might also get her in to an obediance class, which gives her something new to do. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
