Boxer pups should be wormed regularly.
Monthly for pups up to 6 months old, and then every 3-6 months for the rest of the Boxers life.
Innoculations should be given around 9 weeks and then again at 12 weeks. Then yearly boosters should be given by your vet.

Some prefer to have stools checked before worming. Worming is not risk free and worming for no reason makes no sense. Many vets agree yearly boosters are not needed (over vaccination is risky to any pets health). For those vets who feel "boosters" are needed, most recommend this be done every 3 yrs.

Hi Alisha,
preventative medicine in the UK (where I am) must be different from in the US.
Interesting to find out what is going on in the rest of the world though. :-)

Hi Lorraine, I didn't realize yearly boosters were still given in the UK. I'm pretty sure more things are vaccinated for in the US (for the ones that vaccinate) than in the UK though. I know my girl was vaccinated twice before being shipped (from the UK) and am pretty sure it was only for parvo and distemper (much less than most vaccinate a puppy for over here). But yes, it is interesting to see the differences. :)

I am in the US, and we worm our pups almost weekly from 2 weeks (at least 3 times before going to a new home)and we vaccinate with a 5 way vaccine at 6, 9, 12 and 15 weeks and then a booster every year. I've never known anyone to vaccinate only every 3 years, since most vaccinations only protect for about a year, I'm not sure the dogs would be fully protected for the full lenght of time. It would be nice to cut down, I'll have to ask our vet.

Sherry, You can visit this site to learn more about the duration of immunity for vaccines as well as suggested protocols (note all the core vaccines, except for rabies due to law, has been proven to last for *at least* 7 yrs): http://www.ivis.org/advances/Infect_Dis_Carmichael/schultz/chapter_frm.asp?LA=1 For more vaccine info go here: http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/petvacc.htm And here is an article written by Wendy Volhard on vaccinations: http://www.volhard.com/holistic/artbywv.htm#vac
