Do you know what this disease is before you get your Boxer puppy/dog?

ARVC is tested for by doing a cheek swab of the dogs mouth or by blood sample. Puppies must have stopped nursing for a minimum amount of time before they can be tested however it is not unreasonable to think that if you were concerned about buying a puppy you could get the test done before purchase. While I doubt most breeders have their litters tested right away, If you wanted the test prior to buying I think many breeders would allow you to test the puppy but certainly not all. Basically just be up front with your breeder and let them know your expectations. Keep this in mind parents that are free of the mutated gene will only produce free puppies so there is no need for the test.
