when should you start breeding your bloodhound?

8/25/04 It is always best to wait until your female is 2 years of age and has been OFA certified. I have been known to breed at 17 months though with a pre-limb. Males must be at least 6 months of age for most registries to allow a litter out of them. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions at iceholgurl@aol.com Sandra

8/22/05 2 years is minimum for a bitch unless it is medically necessary to do so, and NEVER without an OFA certfcation on hips and a cardiac exam by a cardiaologist. There's an awful lot of SAS and other heart defects being passed around out there, and they kill really good dogs! Patrina
