I have a 4 year old and a 13 year old. The 4 year old is very rambunctious.Is this a good selection for a family dog?

We have a 6 year old and a 9 year old and have had beagles for about four years. For us it has been great! Our youngest is very active also. We did have to teach our boys how to act because the dogs sometimes get excited, but it was all about training. Jumping is the biggest problem we had, but we taught our boys how to get the dogs to sit and all has worked really well.
