I am looking at buying a beagle and I live on a farm where my dogs a allowed to run free (as long as they stay home) I would like to know if he/she will stay home.

Definately NOT. Beagles follow their noses and pretty soon you would have a smushed beagle on the road. They need a fenced in yard.
