A Visitor asked the following question on 6/8/2005
I just got a New AmStaff Puppy. He is a male blue and white, beautiful dog. But ever since he came home with me, he has been having serious behavior problems? Is this coming regular to my pit bull? Or is it a cause in my household? He gets along with my 4 cats, and 3 Labrador Retrievers fine.
He is also pretty aggresive with my 5 children. The ages are:
4
6
10
12
15
It seems he hates them.
I am thinking about getting rid of him, for a home with 1 adult to himself, because of the fear of the dog to my children.
Is this normal? He is my first Pit Bull.

It's not your fault. Where did you get your dog from? Did you see the dog's parents? Did you see the breeder's household?

Human aggression for a Pit Bull is NOT acceptable or normal. He may be doing it because he is jealous of your kids. Pit Bulls are very loyal and he just may be upset because he think you are not giving him enough attention.
Also, do not confuse exuberance for aggression. Pit Bulls are naturally very energetic and he just may play too rough with them for the kids to handle.
It sounds like you have never had a Pit Bull before. They are normally great with kids, but if you do not have the time for him, it's time to give him to someone who will.
