Can I leave it alone for a few hours? How long is too long?

More than a few hours is too long. This breed, more than most others, particularly needs to be with his human family members, and needs to feel that he has a job to do. These dogs are not "it's", and to call such a dog "it" is highly offensive to anyone familliar with them. They are highly intelligent, sensitive beings who bond deeply and understand humans much better than most humans understand themselves.
