• Limited registration means that the dog/bitch is registered, but no litters produced by that dog/bitch are eligible for registration. Dogs with limited registration may NOT be entered in breed competition at dog shows, but may compete in ALL other AKC events. The litter owner may, after 24 months of age with buyer’s proof of OFA certification of hips and elbows, apply to change this designation and have the dog/bitch given full registration privileges , but a fee (to be paid by buyer) and a special application are required for this change.
• The term “Dog” shall be used for dog or bitch, unless referring to specific co-ownership arrangements.
1. This dog shall be given adequate and proper housing, shall not be tied out, shall be properly fed and watered at all times, shall not be neglected nor mistreated in any manner. The buyer at the Buyer’s sole expense will provide proper veterinary care.
2. This dog is guaranteed to be sound of body and temperament and in good health at the time of the sale. Dog has had proper veterinary care and is current on all vaccinations appropriate to its age. Every reasonable attempt has been made to see that the dog is free of internal and external parasites. At the option and the expense of the Buyer, the Buyer has 48 hours from the time of purchase, to have the dog examined by a licensed veterinarian. If the Veterinarian finds the dog to have any illness, i.e. Distemper, lepto, parvovirus, corona virus, the seller will refund the purchase price paid only; provided that a letter and laboratory results from the examining veterinarian are offered as proof of the dog’s illness to the seller and to the seller’s veterinarian and that the dog and any registration papers are returned to the seller within the guaranteed period. NO exchange or refund will be made after this period.
3. Veterinarians advise us that, although we breed only dogs that are structurally sound, we cannot absolutely guarantee that the dog will be free of Canine Hip Dysplasia; however, we will warranty against CHD to 25 months of age to the extent that we will, at our option, either refund the purchase price of the dog or replace the dog with one of equal value when available, provided that a letter from OFA is offered as evidence of CHD to the seller and to the seller’s veterinarian and that the dog and any/all registration papers are signed over to the seller and returned to the seller within the warranted time period. NO exchange or refund will be made after this time. This is to exclude such problems as car accident or dogs that have suffered injuries to the pelvic area prior to OFA evaluation or dogs that have been allowed to become overweight, which is a proven predisposing problem in Labradors. X-rays that indicate an injury has occurred to the pelvic/hip/rear leg area renders this agreement null and void. CHD to be proven by radiograph submitted to OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals), and cost to be borne by Buyer.
4. Buyer agrees to register dog with the AKC by __________________________, and to notify the seller of the dog’s registered name. The registered name MUST include the prefix “Forge.”
5. Buyer assumes all expenses, such as, but not limited to, all veterinary services, board, feed, show entries, hunt test entries, transportation, handling fees, grooming, training, fees, license, equipment, etc.
6. If, at any time, the Buyer can no longer take care of or keep the dog, nor wishes to, the seller MUST be notified, in writing or by phone. The Buyer MUST return the dog and all signed-over registration papers to the seller. All dogs bred by us will always have a home here.
7. In the event of a dispute in regards to these terms and agreements, both parties will seek to resolve the matter first by arbitration. The laws of the Sate of North Carolina govern the terms/agreements and all remedies shall be pursued in its courts.
8. These terms are non transferable.
