Here at Bear-Acres the dogs are an everyday part of our lives and have been since 1989. We show our dogs with the help of a handler and have several champions now and working on more. It is very rewarding to have one earn their title. But more important than that is for them to earn their health certificates! We have always tested all our dogs at the proper age for each test. Both breeds are tested by a cardiologist for the heart at 1 year of age. Then at 2 we do the ofa hips, elbows with both breeds and with newfies we also do patellas. The berners get the cerf testing and the vWb test too. So we do the best we can to avoid any health issues in breeding. We welcome visitors, the dogs love it! Just call and make arrangements with us because if we have puppies then the kennel is off limits until they grow up a bit. This is just a precaution to protect the puppies from exposure.
